"Snakes and dentists. The thought of encountering either gave me serious heepies jeepies. So, I put off going to the dentist for such a long time... Well, I couldn't really remember the last time I'd had a check-up prior to finally making my appointment at Barry Road Dental.
"My prior phobia about dentists was not entirely irrational. I'd had some genuinely awful experiences "in the chair," including having a live tooth drilled into. Also, I was completely discouraged after other dentists declared my overbite a lost cause, nothing they could correct without breaking my jaw.
"My overbite was so bad that I never truly had what I would consider a "natural smile." As a professional photographer, I am always telling people, "Show me your teeth." But when I was on the other side of the camera, I was more inclined to grin. Actually smiling -- baring my teeth -- seemed entirely unnatural as I had to adjust my lower jaw, jutting it out and realigning my teeth. It was a true effort to "smile." I did have a pretty gruesome snarl, though, complete with gnarly teeth.

Dr. Stephanie looked at the mess my teeth werein -- years of grinding and that overbite had chipped or wore just about every tooth in my head down to the nub -- and essentially said, "I can fix this."
"And that she has. After a multitude of procedures, the Barry Road Dental Group has repaired decades of damage and essentially remodeled my mouth. The doctors and their staff have been wonderful -- always professional and friendly. I've experienced no pain, not even any significant discomfort after the novocaine wears off. Furthermore, it's nice to be treated like a person -- they really do greet you with a smile, and I have certainly always left their offices smiling -- and not a peice of equipment that needs repairing.
